Cathedrals For Footballers

Compared to the average American my age I have been around the beautiful game for quite a while, but to the average human being not so much. I heard an announcer calling a La Liga game I believe it was state that 4 billion people can't be wrong when it comes to the greatest game on the planet. I believe he was and is correct. That being case I love the sport just the same. Though I did not grow up kicking the ball down the beaches of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil, or battling it out in the horrendous weather or northern England, or kicking anything that resembled a ball down the market alley of some southern African country I am slowly grasping what I believe the game to means to so many. One easy way to realize this is the structures in which these games are played. The stadium shown is Estádio do Maracanã. This structure can be found in Rio de Janeiro in Brazil. It was built after Brazil won the right to host the 1950 FIFA World Cup. There is much history around this stadium and so I will allow you to do you own research if you so choose. I will leave you with this. The Estádio do Maracanã holds 95,000 people. That means that roughly everyone in Lowndes County GA will fit inside the stadium. Those of you that have been to the Georgia Dome it holds 71,228 people and Sanford Stadium holds 92,746 people and yes Vols fans your Neyland Stadium holds 102,037 but your going to have to add a few seats if you want to top Michigan Stadium with its 107,501 capacity.

Just a look at the GCS Football Logo

Clubs the world over are recognized by their shields, crests, logos... whatever you may refer to them as these symbols mean alot to the clubs that brandish them on their clothing and the fans that sport them as well. In an attempt to provide the program at GCS with the heritage that it deserves a crest was developed roughly three years ago. What you see below is hopefully the finished product. I will explain it now.
The actual shield shape was taken from the Georgia Christian School Crest and the rest is an adaptation to that original crest. The symbol at the top left is the shield for the great state of Georgia. To the right of the the inspired word of God, the Holy Bible. Below the Bible is a hand in the shape of a fist with team written across the fingers. The purpose of this is to show that as fingers as individuals if we try to poke or attack alone we could injure ourself to no avail, but together. Together as a fist as one, we can accomplish much much more. To the left of the fist is of course.... a football. The banner below states when the sport began to be played competitively at GCS 1999. We hope to put this crest on items in the future to allow for furtherance of the program.

In the beginning...

Football is the most popular sport worldwide. I love the game and love to share the game with others. I hope to use this site to update those concerned with the football (soccer) that is going on at Georgia Christian School among other things. This blog will be for players and fans alike. I hope that you will come to our matches, but if that is not a possibility, then you may have access to this by which you can find out what happens with our teams in Dasher. As the Girl's season nears more posts will be presented to inform all who maybe concerned with what is going on with General's Football.
